Big News

I am so behind!!  We had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend.  Filled with our family and close friends.  I would post about it but I don't have a lot of time tonight.  My sis already did two posts on our weekend and since we did everything together you can go read hers!!  For Part one go here and part 2 go here!

Now on to the big news:

Yep, we've got a walker on our hands!!  Saturday morning he just decided he was going to walk!  It was just a few steps at a time, but by Wednesday he was up to 8 steps before falling!  I am so proud and shocked at the same time.  Everyone including his Pediatrician told me it would be soon, but I didn't think so.  You may be saying to yourself, it's not early he just turned one.  But Miss Jillian didn't start walking until she was almost 14 months.  So I just figured my babies would be the same.  Nope!  I should have known though.  Wyatt has done everything sooner than sister.  He got teeth earlier, crawled earlier and now walked earlier!

It's almost the weekend again!!  Yay!!  Another birthday party for us and some pool time!!

Happy almost Friday!!

Saturday's Top 5 Laughs

We are gearing up for the 3 day weekend!!  It's going to be a hot one this weekend, we're talking record breaking temps.!  Hopefully we'll stay cool by being in the pool part of the weekend!

Here are my top 5 laughs from the week:

1. We were trying to leave the house on Wednesday, and Jillian was picking up her books.  I asked if she was ready yet, and she responded, "I'm almost done, don't leave me mommy!"  For the record I have never left her, but I do use that to get her to come on!

2. I always give Jillian a breakfast bar in the car on our way to school in the morning.  This one morning Wyatt saw me hand it to her and screamed because I didn't hand it to him.  He had his cheerios but I guess he wanted a breakfast bar too, so I gave him half of mine!!

3. On Thursday I took Hershey, our cat, to work with me to get shaved.  He was meowing in the car and Jillian was trying to console him.  She then asked me, " Mommy can I be a kitty cat when I grow up?"  Taken back a little I said well, umm...maybe on Broadway?

4. Wyatt has really started to dance when he hears music.  We went to Taco Bell one night for supper and they had some pretty loud music playing and Wyatt danced in his seat the whole time, while eating his food!

5. After Hershey's haircut, I brought him home and Jillian saw him and laughed.  She then said "Mommy, I think Hershey wants his hair back!"  Ha ha!!

I'm linking up with Melissa at The Mommyhood Chronicles and you should too!!  I love documenting all the funny things my kids do and say.  Come link up!

Have a great 3 day weekend!!

Wyatt @ 12 Months/1 Year Old

Wow, that is so weird to write.  Wyatt turned one year old on May 13th.  It's still so hard for me to wrap my brain around.  I never understood why people always said that time flew by.  That is until now.  After having kids of my own, I totally understand and relate to that statement.

This is my little guy.  Mr Happy!  But taking pictures has become a chore!!  Keeping him still long enough to get a pic was nearly impossible!  He is a mover and a shaker.  He is not walking yet, but I think it's right around the corner.  He is cruising around and holding fingers to walk around.

He has grown so much over this past year, from weighing 8 pounds 11 ounces at birth to weighing 26.3 pounds at 1 year old.  He was 20 1/4 inches long at birth and now 31.5 inches long now!  He is a big, healthy boy.  He is in the 95th percentile in weight and in the 90th percentile for length.  My "little" guy is wearing sizes 18 months to 24 months in clothes.  He is wearing size 3 to 4 in shoes, now that he has to wear shoes to daycare.  And size 4 in diapers.  He has 6 teeth in, 4 top and 2 bottom, but there are 2 on the bottom cutting through at the same time.  Luckily, he's a very good teether!  His hair is getting fuller and curlier, especially when he gets hot.  It's kind of cute!!  He is a great sleeper, sleeping from 8pm to about 6:45am.  He usually takes at least one nap if not two.  Usually lasting anywhere from 30 minutes to two hours.

We have officially weaned from breastfeeding.  It really was a bitter sweet ending.  We both loved the experience but all good things come to an end, and it was our time.  I knew I wanted to nurse for one year and I was so excited that we met that expectation.  He really became hard to keep interested towards the end.  The last few months he would get so distracted while nursing.  I started weaning at 10 1/2 months, he just wasn't nursing very much or very long at times, or one side and not the other.  It worked out well for both of us.  I also weaned him from the bottle at the same time.  He now drinks his milk from a sippy cup.  He hasn't even missed the bottle.  He does however still drink breast milk.  I had so much frozen that we're still pulling it out of the deep freeze.  I have also been giving him whole milk as well.  He doesn't seem to have a preference.  He is also a very good eater!  I know, you couldn't tell, right!?!  He will pretty much eat anything you put in front of him.  Some of his favorites are: strawberries, bananas, cheerios, carrots, corn, green beans, peas, chicken, mashed potatoes and gold fish.  He is a very messy eater.  I always wonder how much he really ate.

He is starting to point to things and in his language ask, "what's this".  It's the cutest thing ever.  And it never gets old.  He will point to everything, from the light on the ceiling to a towel on the floor.  When I'm in the kitchen or in the bathroom getting ready he likes to pull up on my pants and hang on.  It's so sweet.  He is getting more and more verbal these days as well.  Although not all of what he says is understandable, his vocabulary thus far consists of: Dada, Momma, Sissy, Jo-Jo, kitty, all done, hi, bye bye, and what's this.

Baby boy,

You are my heart and soul.  You have completed our family.  Being a mom to you and your sister is the best job in the world, not the easiest but definitely the most rewarding.  You are so loving, sweet and so patient, (most of the time).  I love how much I love you.  I knew I would, but never could I have ever known the great joy that you have given me, and our family.   I love how much you love me and your daddy.  And your sister, and your Aunt Jo-Jo, cousin Noah, Papa, your Memmaw and GP and your Mammaw Helen.  You have so much to give and we all love you very much.  I know you are going to grow up and be a very kind person.  I am so proud of you.  I love every minute of you growing up, even if it does make me sad at how fast it's going.  I love you baby boy!

Love Mommy

Saturday's Top 5 Laughs

We've had a good week, but I'm so thankful for the weekend!  Today I'm meeting my sis with the kids and going to Relay For Life.  A walk for cancer.  It's always so great to see the community come together and support a cause so close to my heart!

But first here are my top 5 laughs from the week!

1.  Last Saturday was Wyatt's birthday party.  His Memmaw and G.P. got him a truck.  Both the boys loved it, but the funny part was Noah was pushing Wyatt around in it!

2. We came home the other night to find that one of Jillian's balloons had been popped.  She was very mad, she said "I think Hershey did it", (the cat).  She continued saying, "Hershey that was not very nice, you need a spanking!"  Randy and I just kept looking at each other laughing!

3. We moved Jillian's toddler easy chair into the living room because Wyatt loves it so much.  He climbs all over it, stands in it and a lot of times, dives out of it and falls to the floor.  He gets up and gets right back into it.  Doesn't even cry!  So funny!

4. Jillian loves to play with her brother these days.  In fact when he goes to bed she says, " awh, now I don't have any body to play with!"  She says this in the pitiful voice ever!!

5. On the weekends we try to sleep in!  Wyatt doesn't always get the memo!  So when he doesn't I put him in the pack-n-play in our room with toys and his sippy cup and turn on the tv.  Shortly after Jillian will wake up and come to our room.  She will then get in the pack-n-play with her brother and play with him.  It's the cutest, most sweetest thing ever!  But she sure didn't like it when she was a baby!!

As always I'm linking up with Melissa over at The Mommyhood Chronicles!  Come link up!!

Have a GREAT weekend!!

Wyatt's First Birthday Party Part 2

Now for the good stuff.  Cake that is!  I had no doubt that Wyatt would LOVE his cake, and he didn't disappoint.

At first he looked at the cake and looked at me like, are you really gonna let me do this?

But it didn't take him long before he dove in with both hands!

Then it was all over his face.

He even picked the cake up to take a bite.  He really liked it!

Oh, but then he wiped his eye.  I tried my best to wipe it out.

He got it all over!  He's like hey!  And Randy wanted to know why I was stripping him down to his diaper.

He wanted to share with his daddy.  Thank goodness it wasn't me.

Love this pic of us!

Wyatt's big cake.  The one we all enjoyed, since there was not much left of his!

After cake, and bath in the sink!!  He opened his presents.  He couldn't figure out why I kept taking them away.

He got a lot of great stuff!  The truck that was in the first post, a water table, golf clubs, clothes, a little people tractor, a Sesame Street bus, a Melissa and Doug wooded train, some stacking cups, and a big toy shelf to put everything in!

He also received a little bit of money.  We used that to buy him a Radio Flyer red wagon.  It's great!  he's going to love riding in it!  I can't wait for his first trip to the zoo!

Little man's birthday party was great!  Believe or not he didn't even have a nap.  Not a good one.  But he was a rockstar!  I have to admit that I was pretty stressed out that morning.  Which is not abnormal for me.  I want things to be perfect, and they were.  Besides having my husband run around town trying to find helium in a national helium shortage, who knew?
A HUGE thank you to my wonderful sis, Jo-Jo!  She helped me tremendously!  And for all of those who stayed after and helped clean up, thank you too!

Little man had such a good time.  I don't know that he really even knew what was going on, but it was a memorable day for all of us!  He actually fell asleep as soon as we put him in his car seat in the church parking lot!  He woke up when we got home and tried to eat supper but was just too tired!  He fell asleep in his birthday outfit and I just couldn't wake him to change them!!

Wyatt's 1st Birthday Party, Part One

Shhhh, don't tell this little guy, but he turned ONE yesterday!  I can not believe it.  I have so many pics to share, that I'm going to split them up into two posts.

We celebrated his big day on Saturday.  His theme, Dr. Seuss.  I really did my homework on this one.  I searched Google and Pintrest and found numerous blogs that had great ideas.  My main inspiration was this blog, Little Pumpkin Grace, and Hudson Too!  She's great, love her blog.

Details:
I made little name signs for all the food.  I googled Dr. Seuss clip art, and made my own signs with word art.  We already had a ton of Dr. Seuss books, and even some stuffed animals.  The Wocket from There's a Wocket in My Pocket, and Cat from The Cat in the Hat.  I displayed both the books and the stuffed animals on the tables.  The Truffula Tree's on the wall were actually made by a teacher at Jillian's preschool.  They did a unit on Dr. Seuss in March and she said I could use them.  Yay!  They were the perfect backdrop.

Food:
Truffula Tree Cake Pop's

Hop on Pop Popcorn

One fish, two fish, RED fish (Swedish/gummy fish) in a fish bowl
One fish, two fish, GOLD fish (rainbow goldfish crackers, one of Wyatt's favorites!)

Cat in The Hat Marshmallows-Marshmallows with Red Sugar Sprinkles

Star Belly Sneetch Cookies-Sugar cookies with yellow and green icing

I bought the two banners, and Jo-Jo cut out letters in black construction paper to spell Wyatt.  I cut strips of a white table cloth and taped them to the red table cloth to resemble The Cat in The Hat's hat.

Sign in table:
I bought the cutest Happy Birthday book by Dr. Seuss book for Wyatt.  Then had everyone to sign it as they came in.  The table also featured Wyatt's birthday invite, his party hat, (I made), and a cute little poem, complete in a Dr. Seuss rhyme.

My best friend's step dad made this absolutely perfect sign!  Another quote from the Happy Birthday book.

Gift table, Timeline banner.  My sister and I made the timeline banner.  I've been taking Wyatt's picture every month and wanted to show them off.  We just used paper, a little spray adhesive and some ribbon.  Voila!

Little man's first present was a biggy, and he loved it!  Thanks Memmaw and GP!!  I think he could have rode around in that truck all day!

Entertainment:
A huge blow up pool with hundreds of balls!!  Our kids love this!

It also serves as a play pen.  He can't get out by himself.  That's the only way I got to set up the party!

He already looks so much bigger and older!!

I saved all the really good stuff for the next post!  We're talking cake baby!!  I really mean it, cake all over the baby!!  Until then.....

What have I been up to....

A little bit of every thing.  I am 2 days away from Wyatt's big first birthday bash, and a lot to do before then.  But here's what we've been up to lately.

Saturday was Derby Day!  We had a blast.  Didn't win any money, but had a great day with great friends and fantastic weather.

I was so proud of my big girl!  She swam, (with her vest float on), all by herself.  She did awesome.  I normally would not let her swim by herself.  And I just mean with out me or her daddy, there were no less than 20 adults in a 2 foot circumference.  She had so much fun, swimming with all the big kids.

It was HOT, so we escaped to the inside to watch the final race.

The boys had a lot of fun in the pool too.  It's like bath water, maybe just a little cooler.

Sunday would have been my Mom's 50th birthday.  Man she would have rocked her 50's!  I really wanted to write a letter, but time isn't on my side.

In honor of her and her birthday, Jo-Jo and I decided to go visit her and take her flowers.  But instead of just taking her flowers we decided to plant her flowers.

It was our way of spending the day with our mom and celebrating her birth day!!

This week at Jillian's Preschool, is teacher appreciation week.  And we sure do appreciate Jillian's teachers. Ms. Amanda and Mrs. Hannah do a wonderful job with these kids, so Jillian and I made them a special gift.

They didn't turn out as good as I'd hoped but the teacher's loved them anyway!

Tomorrow is Muffins with Mom at Preschool and Jillian and I are looking forward to it.  I've taken the day off, hoping to get a few party things done, and of course have breakfast with my sweetie!!

I am so excited about Wyatt's birthday party.  I have been planning my heart out, it's gonna be good!!  I'll try to post as soon as I can!  Here's a picture of my cutie from an impromptu photo shoot.  I was hoping to get a few good ones to display at his party!

We have a busy weekend planned!  Wyatt's party Saturday, Mother's Day and Wyatt's official 1st Birthday Sunday, and Randy and I will celebrate our 7 year anniversary on Monday!!

Happy Weekend!!

Saturday's Top 5 Laughs

I am so excited for the weekend!  Today is Derby Day!!  For those of you who aren't from Kentucky and haven't heard, it's the biggest horse race around!  The Run For The Roses!  We always celebrate by going to family friend's house for a big party.  Complete with betting tables, tons of  food, your choice of beverage, an in ground pool and of course great friends and family!!  It's always a great party.  Last year I was big time preggers, this year little man is here and if the weather cooperates then we'll get to go swimming for the first time this year, Jillian is so excited!

Now for my top five laughs of the week!

1. Wednesday was super warm, so after nap I got the kid pools out.  The water was extremely cold. Wyatt did not care for it much at all.  Jillian on the other hand loved it.  When she would get out and walk on the concrete, she would say "Look Mommy, I made paw prints", referring to her foot prints.  It was so cute!

2. Earlier in the week the kids had a virus that made them run high fevers, therefore they didn't want to eat much.  One day I was trying to get Wyatt to eat something, (weird I know, he loves to eat), and he wouldn't take it from me.  Jillian walks up and tries and he totally took the food from her.  He's a stinker!!

3. Last Sunday my Dad came over to my house for Sunday night dinner.  He wanted to see our kitchen redo.  He and Jillian were playing ball when he stuck his tongue out at her, (yes he's just a big kid too).  She came to me and tattled on him, and I said awwh......after a few seconds she bursted out  saying "I just kidding!!"  We all busted out laughing.
4.  And Papa said, "that'll make the top 5 laughs"!!  And he was right!  It was great!

5. I picked Jillian up from preschool one day this week and while I was buckling her in she asked me, "Mommy did you have fun at work today?"  Umm, were did my little girl go?  It was so cute!

Have a GREAT Derby Day!!!

Wyatt's First Hair Cut

I always said I would not cut my child's hair before he or she turned one.  BUT, I couldn't stand it any more!  I mean look at this before picture.  Over his ears...

The first cut felt like 30 minutes.  It didn't take that long, but I was so nervous, and he wasn't very still.  I trimmed over his ears first.

It looked a little choppy at first, but when it dried it didn't look as bad.

After the first cut.

He has some curl, mainly in the back and on the sides.  I'm not sure if I like it or not.  It's not the nice curl, it's kind of a frizzy/not so boy like curl.

I cut straight across the back, trying not cut all the curl.  I've always heard the old wives tale that if you cut off a baby's curl it won't grow back.  Not sure if it's true, but I didn't want him to loose all of his curls.

These were probably the hardest cuts to make.  For one he wouldn't stay still and two the hair would curl and that made it harder to cut straight.

I cropped these in so you could see the after cut, but it made them a little lighter.  Plus they were taken with my phone, looking in the mirror.

Not to shabby if I do say so myself!  I am so glad I went ahead and trimmed it.  Besides, I couldn't have him  not looking his best for his FIRST BIRTHDAY PARTY in just 11 days!!!
